What Do Fruity Notes Smell Like in Perfume?

Fruity notes in perfume can smell juicy, sweet, tart, green, creamy or syrupy depending on the fruits being represented. The term is a broad category rather than one ingredient. It can include berries, apples, pears, peaches, plums, tropical fruits or mixed-fruit effects. Fruity notes are generally used in the top or heart.

What Does Fruity Notes Smell Like?

There is no single fruity smell. Apple can be crisp and green, peach can feel creamy, berries may be tart and dark, and tropical fruits are often sweet and lush. Fruit aromas are produced by complex mixtures that may include esters, terpenes, aldehydes, alcohols and ketones.

Where Does Fruity Notes Come From?

Some fruity effects are supported by natural extracts, but many are constructed from fragrance molecules because ordinary fruit does not always provide a useful perfume extract. A mixed-fruit accord can brighten a floral heart, soften woods or add sweetness without creating a clearly identifiable single fruit.
