What Does Strawberry Smell Like in Perfume?

Strawberry in perfume usually smells sweet, juicy and red-fruity, with tart, green, creamy or candy-like sides. Some strawberry accords feel like freshly picked fruit, while others resemble jam, sweets or soft fruit cream. The note is normally reconstructed with fragrance molecules rather than extracted directly from ordinary strawberries. It is mainly used near the top.

What Does Strawberry Smell Like?

A realistic strawberry accord combines ripe sweetness with fresh acidity and a small green edge. Different fragrance materials can emphasise tart fruit, apple-like freshness, plum nuances or a smooth sweet-strawberry effect. IFF materials such as Fraistone and ethyl phenyl glycidate demonstrate how perfumers can build both fresh and confectionery-style strawberry characters.

Where Does Strawberry Come From?

The widely cultivated garden strawberry is Fragaria × ananassa, a hybrid involving Fragaria chiloensis and Fragaria virginiana. Its natural aroma is complex, but perfume strawberry is generally assembled from fruity esters, berry materials, green notes and sweet fragrance molecules. This allows the perfumer to control whether it smells fresh, tart, creamy or candy-like.
