What Does Lychee Smell Like in Perfume?

Lychee in perfume usually smells juicy, floral and tropical, with rosy, watery, sweet and slightly tart sides. It can suggest translucent white fruit, rosewater and fresh tropical juice. Lychee is normally used near the top of a fragrance, where it adds brightness without the heavy sweetness of syrupy fruit.

What Does Lychee Smell Like?

Lychee has a delicate tropical-fruit scent with floral, honeyed, citrus and peach-like qualities. Studies of fresh lychee found floral, tropical-fruit, peach, apricot and honey impressions, with rose oxide, geraniol and other floral materials contributing to its recognisable aroma.

Where Does Lychee Come From?

Lychee fruit comes from Litchi chinensis, a tropical Asian tree. In perfume, lychee is generally recreated as an accord because the fresh fruit does not provide a widely used stable essential oil. Perfumers combine rosy, citrus, watery and fruity molecules to suggest its translucent flesh and floral sweetness.
