What Is the Warm & Ambery Fragrance Family?

Warm & Ambery fragrances generally smell smooth, rich and enveloping. Vanilla and tonka bean can create softer sweetness, sandalwood adds a creamy woody quality, and resins such as myrrh and benzoin can provide deeper warmth. Saffron may introduce dry, spicy or slightly leathery character, while amberwood can move the fragrance towards a more modern dry-woody effect. Because these materials can be balanced in many ways, a Warm & Ambery perfume does not have to be very sweet or heavy. Some are relatively airy, while others are darker and more resinous. In established fragrance classification, ambery styles similarly span spicy, woody and fresher variations rather than representing one fixed smell.
