What Is the Sweet & Gourmand Fragrance Family?

Sweet & Gourmand fragrances usually smell soft, sweet, creamy, edible or comforting, but they can range from light and smooth to dark and roasted. Vanilla and marshmallow can create softer sweetness, almond and praline add nutty effects, while honey can feel richer and more floral. Coffee and cacao introduce roasted or bitter contrasts that can stop the fragrance from becoming simply sugary. Woods, smoke, spices and resins can deepen the composition further. This variety is important because gourmand perfumery includes far more than vanilla alone: established gourmand classifications also cover materials such as chocolate, coffee, caramel, almonds and other food-like scent effects.
