What Is the Spicy & Woody Fragrance Family?

Spicy & Woody fragrances generally smell warm, dry and structured, with noticeable spice layered over woods or deeper earthy materials. Nutmeg can bring dry warmth, while cardamom often gives a fresher aromatic type of spice. Saffron can introduce a dry, leathery edge. Cedarwood and sandalwood provide contrasting woody textures, while patchouli, oud and leather can make the fragrance deeper or darker. Some perfumes in the family contain floral, fruity or sweet elements as well, but spice and woody depth remain important to the final balance. The wider woody-spicy style is similarly built around woods warmed or sharpened by spices such as nutmeg and other aromatic materials.
