What Does Rum Smell Like in Perfume?

Rum in perfume usually smells warm, sweet and alcoholic, with molasses, oak, vanilla, fruity and spicy sides. A rum accord can suggest dark aged spirit, golden rum or a sweeter liqueur-like effect. It is usually constructed from fragrance materials rather than made by adding drinking rum to perfume. Rum is mainly used in the heart.

What Does Rum Smell Like?

Rum aroma is complex and can include fermented fruit, caramelised sugar, oak barrels, vanilla and warm spice. Research into commercial rums identified many aroma-active compounds, including fruity esters and materials associated with oak, spice and fermentation.

Where Does Rum Come From?

Rum perfume notes may use rum ether, fruity esters, vanilla, caramel, oak and spice materials. Rum ether itself is a complex manufactured aromatic mixture rather than ordinary bottled rum. Oakwood extracts can also provide smoky, vanilla and rum-like facets.
