Is Strong Perfume Projection Always Better?
No. Strong projection is not proof that a perfume is better made, more refined or more suitable for you.
A strongly projecting fragrance can be enjoyable in the right setting, but it may feel intrusive in a small office, restaurant, lift or shared vehicle. A softer perfume may be far more comfortable for close conversation or daily wear.
My view is that balance matters more than maximum impact. A perfume should be noticeable enough for its purpose without overwhelming the wearer or everyone nearby.

An Eau de Toilette with a bright, volatile opening may seem very noticeable at first. A richer Eau de Parfum may last longer while remaining closer to the skin. The balance of materials matters alongside concentration.

Why Can Other People Smell My Perfume When I Cannot?

Before applying more perfume, move into fresh air for a while or ask someone you trust whether they can still notice it. That gives you a better indication than adding several extra sprays simply because your own nose has adjusted.
How Can You Test a Perfume’s Projection Fairly?
Test projection using a normal amount on clean skin, then judge it at several points rather than only during the opening.

- Do not add other scented products to the same area.
- Notice the fragrance shortly after application.

Applying too much can create an intense opening that becomes uncomfortable without improving the balance of the fragrance. It may also make it harder for your nose to judge the scent because you are surrounded by a higher concentration.
Application location can also change how noticeable a perfume feels. Fragrance applied to warmer skin may diffuse differently from fragrance on clothing. Fabric can retain scent, but delicate materials should be treated carefully because perfume may mark them.
Rather than immediately adding more sprays, test:
• One or two additional application points.
• A moisturised skin base if your skin is dry.
